For my positive and negative assignment I decided to use a photo I took of my cat. I chose this photo because she somewhat reminded me of the Virgin Mary. I really liked this assignment and is my all time favorite! I used India ink and tracing paper.

Scraggly Squirrel

Since I decided not to use a scratch board I decided to use charcoal to design this squirrel. I’ve been using charcoal in my drawing class and so I wanted to use it for this scraggly furry friend. I tried to give it a little bit of value but then again keep it simple. I feel like when I overdo things I make things worse so I didn’t want to risk that.

Hermit Crab in Shell

This is my assignment for realism with color. I’m not good with giving shades especially with colored pencils, so I tried my best. I used a bit of water color as well as alcohol and white paint for some areas to give it a realistic look for the hermit crab.

Organic Shape Blue Jay

Here is the before and after photos of my fourth design. The first image was taken after class and the second one was done a few hours after class. I’d say it has some organic lines with a bit of implied lines.
